Harbour improvements
Nova Scotia MP and federal cabinet minister Peter MacKay announced $60 million will be spent on 48 harbour improvements over the next two years in the province.
A news release issued Friday provides details on 17 of the 48 projects. That portion will cost approximately $20 million and includes harbours in Pictou, Kings County, Guysborough County and across Cape Breton.
The federal government said upgrades "will provide a safer and more efficient working environment for harbour users and local fishermen."
The improvements include....

Peter MacKay responds to Mulcair on bill C-51
Peter MacKay responds to the absurd over-reaction to Bill C-51. The anti-terrorism bill that leftists like to pretend is George Orwell-style oppression...

Life in prison without parole? Yes please!
MacKay needs to get this done! The worst of the worst scumbags need to go to prison and stay there. End of story.
A spokesperson for Justice Minister Peter MacKay declined to comment directly on the categories outlined by The Globe, but quoted the Throne Speech of October, 2013, saying: “Canadians do not understand why the most dangerous criminals would ever be released from prison. We are currently reviewing options to ensure that a life sentence actually means life.”

Peter MacKay's conservatism
Lawrence Martin writes a hit piece about Peter MacKay. He suggests that MacKay is too right-wing and that the country is tilting in this direction.
As an ardent conservative I like this article, despite the obvious attempt at snark and criticism. MacKay is a true blue conservative and he's done a great job in office since 2006. The fact that the country has moved away from the left of the past is a good thing. The new centre is rightward.

Guns have been much in the news recently, but you don’t see much talk, such is the tilt of the country, about the disappearance of the gun registry. The assault on Parliament might have stirred some protest. Where did Michael Zehaf-Bibeau get the rifle? Was it registered? The information might have been useful to the police. Then came the 25th anniversary of the slaughter at Montreal’s École Polytechnique. Then the massacre over the holidays in Edmonton. Through it all, hardly a whimper from gun control advocates who were so outraged when....
